Care for Every Child

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is an Ohio-based pediatric medical center that provides outstanding patient care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. With over a century of service, Nationwide Children’s Hospital is the primary pediatric health care provider for 37 counties, and it focuses on pediatric research and advocacy for children and their families,

A Honda grant of $750,000 funded the construction of the hospital’s new building. At one point in the project, all eyes were on a “flying” Honda Civic that was being hoisted by the construction crew to the ninth floor. The Honda-donated Civic is used in the expanded rehabilitation unit so pediatric patients can practice getting in and out, steering and using the control panel.

Honda honors their personal commitment by offering matching gift and volunteer programs to help associates support the causes that are important to them. Associate donations to qualified organizations are matched by the company, and associates are often permitted to volunteer at their favorite charities during work hours.

Sharing is Caring Holiday Luncheon

Since 1991, Honda Community Action Team volunteers have given up the best shopping day of the year – December 26 – to host the Luncheon and help make the holidays a little brighter for those in need. Honda teams with the Salvation Army and the Marriott Hotel in Torrance, California to help local residents in need around the holidays. More than 150 Honda Community Action Team volunteers help decorate, set-up and serve hot meals to more than 1,000 low-income, homeless and senior citizens residents and families.

Over 20 years ago, Honda came to the rescue when the Salvation Army had most of its Christmas gifts and supplies for the needy stolen from a storage building. We approached the Torrance Marriott about organizing a Christmas luncheon for those in need, and just like that, the Sharing is Caring Holiday Luncheon was born.
