This award recognizes organizations that embrace a “kids first” approach, evidenced by their implementation of recognized best practices and policies that protect kids and promote safety.

SquashSmarts is being honored as having accomplished the distinguished essentials of S.T.R.I.V.E.: Sports Teach Respect, Initiative, Values and Excellence. The SquashSmarts leaders, the athletes, the coaches, the volunteers, and the parents are being commended for their commitment to kids’ safety and health, demonstrating to young people that it is possible for Sports to Teach Respect, Initiative, Values and Excellence without compromising safety. Together you have demonstrated a heartfelt passion and a contagious spirit for helping kids succeed in youth sports activities while maintaining a focused commitment to established safety procedures.

We applaud your dedication to deliver a consistent and comprehensive club training program that has safety and injury prevention as a primary focus through your top three safety initiatives: 1) Proper Grip and Mechanics of Squash; 2) Eye Protection Policies; and 3) Proper Hydration and Nutrition. We praise the SquashSmarts leaders, the athletes, the coaches, the volunteers, and the parents for their commitment to kids’ safety and health as well as the academic tutoring and squash instruction.

This model program will touch the lives of thousands of young people, coaches, volunteers, parents and administrators who admire your determination and courage of conviction to the vital role integrity, sportsmanship, academics, safety, life skills as well as sport skills play for a positive youth sports experience in a more wholesome society.

Earlier this year, the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) issued a call for nominations for its  2nd Annual STRIVE Organization of the Year Award, sponsored exclusively by AIG.  The STRIVE Award recognizes youth organizations that have distinguished themselves by implementing outstanding and valuable health and safety initiatives. AIG Serves Under 501c3.

Through its aHead of the Game® (AOTG) advocacy campaign, AIG is focused on helping reduce the risks of concussions and other head injuries in youth sports.  Through its relationship with the NCYS, AIG has supported initiatives to help keep kids safe and promote safe and healthy participation in youth athletics.  The STRIVE Organization of the Year Award is aligned with these objectives, and AIG is proud to be its exclusive sponsor.

From May 15 to July 28, the NCYS collected more than 50 nominations from youth organizations across the United States. The STRIVE judging committee, comprised of youth sport industry influencers and safety experts, narrowed the field of dedicated, deserving nominees to the 2103 ‘5 for STRIVE’ finalists.  You can help select the winning organization by casting a vote on the STRIVE Organization of the Year award website. Voting has begun and will run until midnight on September 30th.
