Earth Day
Each year for the past 22 years Allegro Worcester employees, family members, and friends have participated in an Earth Day clean-up sponsored by the Regional Environmental Council. Being one of 60 participating sites in Worcester,
we clean along 1.5 miles of roads near Allegro as well as on Allegro property. This not only improves the local environment but also helps the next generation become aware of our environmental responsibilities.
Every Day
To help reduce the use of fossil fuels, Allegro Worcester supports employee ride-sharing by helping employees connect with each other and by providing preferred parking for carpoolers. We also partner with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (Mass DOT) to provide services including NuRIDE and the Emergency Ride Home program MassRIDES – Home. In recognition of our efforts Allegro was given a Leadership Award for Excellence in Commuter Options in April 2011 by the Mass DOT. Allegro Worcester also has a very active recycling program which recycles over 100 tons of material per year. This includes 32 tons of plastic, 27 tons of cardboard, 16 tons of paper, 16 tons of pallets, and 10 tons of metal.
Allegro MicroSystems Philippines (AMPI) residential area houses more than 100 employees and their families. They are encouraged to practice waste segregation, and all plastics, papers, and scrap steels are turned over to the CAMPE scrap facility. Proceeds of the sale of these scrap materials benefit the scholars of Allegro Foundation.
Other scrap materials, rip-rap and filling, have been donated by AMPI to Allegro Homes, where they are being reused to stabilize stream banks.
AMPI also has joined with the Bantay Kalikasan Foundation to participate in their program for the adoption of mangrove trees as part of the Save the La Mesa Watershed Project.
